Who I Am

I’m R.L. Canty, and Negus.Leo Publishing is where my books live. I’ve written and published eight of them, covering communication, wellness, productivity, adversity, and storytelling. Putting my name on each one was a commitment, and I took it seriously. What I didn’t know was how hard the next part would be. Writing a book is one job, and getting people to actually read it is a whole different one.

What I’m Working On Right Now

Right now, I’m learning how to get my books into readers’ hands, starting from zero. I’m doing it in public, one test at a time, in a blog series called Getting Books Read. Some of what I try will work. Some of it will flop, and I’ll show you that too, along with my best guess about why. If you’ve ever published something and watched it sit quietly, you might see yourself in what I’m going through.

The store holds all of my books and series, along with the journals, eBooks, and courses I’ve built in other parts of my work. The blog covers self-publishing, protecting your intellectual property, planning what happens to your work long term, the business side of being an author, and the craft of writing and editing. I write every post from where I actually stand. That means sharing what I’ve tried, not pretending I have it all figured out. When I’m not sure about something, I’ll say so, and that goes double for legal topics, where I’m a learner, not a lawyer.

Why I Publish My Own Work

I publish under my own imprint because I want to own my work, not just write it. A book is more than a product on a shelf. It’s a piece of what you know, put down in a form that can outlast you. That’s why this site talks about ownership and legacy right alongside publishing. I’m still learning how to protect and plan for my own work, and I’ll share what I find as I go.
